UK Veg Gardeners

Hi everyone,

Is anyone familiar with Cloudberry plants? I have recently read about Cloudberries and was wondering if it could easily grow in Italy too. I've been trying to find a place to order plants or seeds but all options seem to be quite expensive so I'm a bit unsure, especially when I don't know if the plants could survive.

I know them as a wild plant, like a sort of lax looking blackberry. I didn't know they could be bought for domestic growing. I would think if blackberries grow well where you are, cloudberries should?

I think so! But they are known as "artic berry" where I live so that name is kind of worrying me! I'd love to have all those wild berries in my garden! Yes they can be bought for domestic growing but from what I see there are just a few places where you can purchase them!
They grow wild in Norway, at high(ish) altitudes and in boggy ground ( I think!). They often appear as "local delicacies" in restaurants there, and are quite expensive as I recall.

I'm guessing growing conditions in Italy are quite different,so you might struggle ....
Hey Nick maybe you're right. There must be a reason why they only grow up there! :(
I'm half Finnish, they grow in the northern regions of Finland and are considered a delicacy there. They like boggy conditions in the tundra, and I'm presuming certain type of soil. I'm not sure they could be easily cultivated. To be honest I have never understood their charm, having eaten a lot of them, they don't really have a distinct flavour to me!
