Permalink Reply by Catherine on June 14, 2012 at 15:25 Hmmm...I had cherry toms last year and I presumed they were cordons, so took off sideshoots. They did have masses of toms on each truss, and grew as tall as "ordinary" sized ones. I have loads this year, but some got frosted way back then and the main stem died, but have now grown 2 side stems instead. I am leaving the 2 stems but will probably nick off the 2 tops when I have a few trusses on each.!
thank you all for your replies, I have now spoken to the friend who grew them from seed, he was nt sure whether he needed to take out the side shoots when he set them, but his are growing in a greenhouse and already have flowers, he says the sideshoots have nt any flowers so he s pinching them out, so I ve pinched mine out too. Mine are growing outside, I m afraid its not going to be such a good year for outdoor tomatoes as it was last year,
