UK Veg Gardeners

Hope it's OK to add this when I've not been about here during the winter months...

Pete and I sat down this weekend and went through our seeds. We had a LOT left over from last year, as it was the first year we had our new allotment on top of our back garden, and we bought more than usual but planted less than usual.

But we did have a fair few things we needed to buy seeds for, including leeks and tomatoes and onions...

Anyway, I spent a few hours online yesterday, comparing prices from the various online retailers. Amazing how much price difference there is for seeds for the same variety and I quickly learned to look at how many seeds are in the packets too!

Because of a tip last year, from here I think, though it might have been from a fellow garden blogger on twitter, I was already aware of seedparade and had been following their twitter account for some time.

They often tweet discounts on a particular seed packet, every few days, so before ordering, I asked if they had anything on special at the moment.

And in reply, to my surprise, the owner asked if I'd like to run a competition for my blog readers.

Well, yeah, of course! I've been blogging about growing our own on my main food blog for quite some time, and we have a quieter gardening blog on the side as well.

Anyway, the thing is, today I posted the competition, two prize winners will each win their own selection of up to £25 of seeds, and free delivery anywhere in UK.

(I got my own complimentary selection of seeds too, as way of thanks for running the competition).

So, if you want to enter, please do. It would make me happy for the winner to be someone who genuinely loves gardening and would appreciate the prize more than the many compers who scour the web for competitions and enter them... though I do use random number generator to pick my winners so of course, they win some times...

I have had some seeds from them and they are very good, but the amount of varieties they stock  a little limited.

Yes, their list isn't that long, but reasonable, I think. Certainly, there are a few things they just don't cover/ or have many of... so you'd definitely have to combine them with other retailers...

I couldn't have done our entire annual seed shop from them, but for topping up, they were already the ones I was about to place the order with (when the owner suggested the competition) because their seed and delivery prices are good. I put items into baskets with 3 or 4 others, and the delivery charges alone made the orders so much more expensive, when all I wanted was a few things...
