A few months ago I was bemoaning the fact that I had no birds in my garden and that I thought our renovations had scared them off. Well.............the pigeons are certainly back with a vengence!!
Yesterday I planted some chard seedlings and a few leeks into a plastic growbed thingy (which is divided into 9 sections like a square foot gardening bed) on the patio. I filled the rest of the space with seeds.
I went indoors and had my dinner, came outside for the dog to have a wee....................dirt everywhere, seedlings either missing or wilfully destructed!!! I can only think it was the blasted pigeons!!! I have no idea if any of the seeds were taken, hopefully not! When i replant I shall be covering it with something.

In our back garden the pigeons and doves just sit and watch the sparrows do all the damage. However on the allotment the pigeons are evil - love em/hate em.
Permalink Reply by Donna C on April 27, 2012 at 10:24 It wasn't a cat, there aren't any round here and those that do venture around are swiftly dispatched by our labrador!! There are loads of pigeons at the moment but I think it may also have been blackbirds as I have seen them throwing dirt about before.
On closer inspection the damage wasn't as bad as I first thought and nothing has touched it since.
